Retirement Cake at party given on July 24, 2000, for Dee's retirement
from the University of Virginia. The cake was in the shape of a motor home.
On August 1, 2000, we left Wintergreen, VA, and headed to a family reunion in Rockport,Texas, in our first motor home, shown below.
Our first RV,a 1999 Rexhall RoseAir 3550D motor home, all
loaded up, towing the green Honda CRV with bicycles on top.
However, after traveling in it for three months, we decided that a diesel-powered coach would better suit the miles we would be driving in the coming years. We sold the RoseAir in December 2000 to a couple in California, and rode the California Zephyr train back to Colorado.
In January, we ordered a 2001 Monaco Diplomat
38D which arrived in Denver March 9, 2001. Check it out!
After traveling full-time for two years, we moved into our new house. We unpacked and arranged furniture for one week, then headed out for another trip. Here are pictures of the house from framing until completion. We will probably travel more months than we will stay in the house, but now we do have a home to come back to.
In March 2005, we succumbed to the motorhome
bug once again and purchased a 2005 Monaco Camelot PAQ. Although
we now have a "regular" home and grandchildren to keep us there, we do
plan to travel some, and prefer our own "home on wheels" to motels. Click
on the picture for views of our latest acquisition.
