Here is a pictorial summary of RV travels during August and September 2002, in NM, AZ and UT. I think we visited 8 National Parks and 2 State Parks. We hiked in most of them. We took an all day boat ride on Lake Powell. See the Utah web page for more.
We returned to Arizona in February
2003, visiting Tucson, Phoenix, Las Vegas, NV, and southern California.
North
Rim of Grand Canyon. Window Rock.
Lake
Powell. Houseboats on beautiful Lake Powell, created by Glen Canyon
Dam on the Colorado River at Page, AZ, above the Grand Canyon.
Rainbow
Bridge. Largest natural rock span in the world, on Lake Powell.
From Sept. 8 - 13 we attended an Elderhostel
in Sedona, AZ, another beautiful
spot. It's no wonder that this area has become so popular. We took
a train ride to the south rim of the Grand Canyon on Sept. 12. After the Elderhostel,
we returned to the south rim of the Grand Canyon for several days, during which
Dee took a two-day mule ride.
In February 2003, we visited Tucson for a week (rainy!) and Phoenix for a week. In
the Tucson area, we visited the infamous town of Tombstone (gunfight at the
OK corral) and the mining town of Bisbee, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum,
Saguaro National Park
,
and
drove
to Mount Lemmon where in 25 miles, one goes through multiple ecosystems --
from desert floor to pine-covered (and snow covered!) mountain tops. The
Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley is the US's southern-most ski area. We also toured
the Titan Missile Museum containing a deactivated ICBM silo.
In Phoenix we toured Taleisin West, Frank Lloyd Wright's southern home and school, and on Feb. 22 had the pleasure of seeing Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion live with 5,000 others! He even read our anniversary greetings to Laura and Eric.
We toured Biosphere
2 and took these pictures. .jpg)

It's a fascinating facility where researchers from Columbia University study the effects of things of human endeavors on earth's plant life, like carbon dioxide.
